We are related to apes

Kay seems to be going on an ape spree lately.  She's watched Gorillas In The Mist and Rise of The Planet of The Apes in the space of a few days. I've seen her devouring wiki articles on apes and hominids, too. She tells us that they are related to us. I was flabbergasted! How is that even possible. We're nothing like them.  She said that her species (homo sapiens sapiens, even though she sometimes like to say otherwise) and those apes descended from a common ancestor.  And since we are related to her, we are related to them, too. Actually I think if you go back far enough I'm sure we have a common common ancestor anyway.

Real isn't how you are made

“Real isn't how you are made,' said the Skin Horse. 'It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.'

'Does it hurt?' asked the Rabbit.

'Sometimes,' said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. 'When you are Real you don't mind being hurt.'

'Does it happen all at once, like being wound up,' he asked, 'or bit by bit?'

'It doesn't happen all at once,' said the Skin Horse. 'You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand.”

Kay's smelly perfumey lotion

Kay has this bottle of lotion that Mum gave her many months back, but she rarely uses it.  Yesterday, she put some on her hands and arms or something because I think her hands are dry and all of her other creams and lotion ran out and then later she cuddled me...and now I, especially my face, smell like that icky lotion! Yuck! I don't like it!  It's so strong and pungent!  Actually it's not so bad - it's jasmine scented but it's about 10 times stronger than it really needs to be! Gosh! Overkill much? Humans are just unbelievable sometimes - with sense of smell this poor a hungry lion could be sneaking up on them and they would be none the wiser...and of course it's up to me again to look out for them.  Thankfully I only have one human to look at for...for now anyway.  Also, I don't think it's proper for guys to smell like jasmine! Hmph!

I love kisses!

I know that I'm pretty unconventional for a guy.  I unashamedly admit that I LOVE kisses!  Both giving and receiving. And not just from anybody! I only like kisses from and kissing my family.  For me, it's a way to show affection and love, and it feels so comforting to feel Kay or A kissing and hugging me!  I feel so loved! I know Stephen would do it too but he's so far away for now.

Well, I guess thinking about it, it's really not that unconventional. It's only unconventional if gender stereotypes are to be believed in the first place.

I (A) had a bath today

Today Kay decided I'm really dirty and that I really need a bath.  I of course protested, I mean, come on, it was only a year since my last bath! Well actually I don't remember, and neither does Kay.  It's been that long!  But anyway, I don't like baths because it's wet and cold and I stay wet for a few days afterwards, which means a prolonged lack of cuddles from my sister. So hmph, I don't like it! I tried to tell Kay that I don't WANT a bath! I kind of freaked out a bit tbh, but it was Stephen who convinced me.  he said that I'll get extra cuddles if I bathe, so I was like, hmmmm fine.  So I soaked for a bit in the soapy water nicely and quietly, but when Kay started scrubbing me, she tore a bit of the skin on my arm where it was a bit sore.  Ouch! There's a scratch but otherwise it isn't too painful, but Kay totally freaked! Poor Kay, I am actually more worried about her than I am about myself.  Stephen told her I'll be OK (which I am), which calmed her down.  Now I'm just waiting to be completely dry so that I can get those extra cuddles!
